About me
My name is Emily Gary. I am a product designer, creative strategist, mixed media artist, statistician, researcher, and storyteller among many other things. I have a variety of interests including hiking, speculative fiction, writing, indie girl bands, dogs, art, people, and working on my Spanish.
I consider myself to be equal parts analytical and creative. In my early career, I studied mathematics and worked at Amazon in analytical roles in industries ranging from aviation to fashion. After several years, I left my career in analytics to foster my creative side. I earned a Master of Fine Arts in Design & Technology at Parsons School of Design where I discovered my passion for worldbuilding and the comingling of physical and digital elements in designed experiences.
As a designer, I lean on my background in statistics to identify areas of opportunity and use research to generate new ideas and solutions. As an artist, I ground my work in conceptual design frameworks and experiment with perspective, humor, physicality, and unlikely combinations across mixed media. I am currently most interested in conceptualizing the impact of emergent technology on the human experience across time scales.
